Today is officially Groundhog Day but for millions of leaseholders everyday is Feudal Groundhog Day.

‘This week Freeholders won the right for a judicial review to challenge the Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act 2024. Six of the biggest freeholders (ARC, Cadogan/Grosvenor, Abacus, Wallace, John Lyon and Portal Trust) are challenging elements of the enfranchisement provisions of LFRA.
They are challenging:
- Abolition of Marriage value
- The Ground rent ‘cap’ at 0.1% of capital value
- Abolition of the reversioner’s ability to recover it’s costs of enfranchisement.
They are challenging on the grounds of their Human Rights under A1P1 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
Leaseholders are sick and tired of the continued abuse. The battle lines are drawn. Freeholders are prepared to protect the leasehold system with their dying breath because it has made them the wealthiest people in the country.
This government must not let history repeat itself, they have the power to stop this.

We urge all leaseholders to continue to raise Leasehold with your MP’s. Book a face-to-face appointment with them. Let them know that we are not going away. Freeholders hide behind the law. They hide behind expensive lawyers. Leaseholders have been bullied by these tactics for decades. THEY MUST NOT BE ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH IT ANY LONGER.
