The National Leasehold Campaign fully supports this petition to Abolish Ground rents for Existing Residential Leaseholders.
Ground Rents are causing increasing issues for existing leaseholders resulting in leaseholders being trapped in homes they can’t sell.
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) concluded that ground rents for leasehold properties, were neither legally nor commercially necessary, finding them an “unnecessary” burden on leaseholders for which they received little in return.
As always it’s paramount leaseholders voices are united to strengthen the message. Even if your not impacted by ground rents, the NLC still ask you show your support to this petition.
This petition calls on the Government to:
“Abolish ground rent for all existing residential leasehold properties in England and Wales. Ground rent is an outdated and, we believe, unfair charge that provides no service or benefit to leaseholders”
