THE BATTLE HAS INTENSIFIED TODAY AS FACELESS INVESTORS MOUTHPEICE (THE RFA) HAVE WRITTEN TO GOVERNMENT IN A PANIC

Labour’s leasehold reform battle has intensified as the Residential Freehold Association (RFA) has written to Housing Secretary Steve Reed saying there will be building safety problems if Govt caps ground rents. If Leaseholders haven’t yet joined in the NLC Mass Email event, NOW IS THE TIME TO SEND THAT EMAIL !

The RFA is a lobbying trade body in the UK representing large, ‘professional’ freeholders, particularly those backed by institutional investors and pension funds, in other words they are the mouth piece to faceless investors who use our homes as an income stream. They should crawl back under the rock they came from. The Treasury must not be fooled.

Lets be clear – Ground Rents can not be justified ! If it was wrong for the future it’s wrong for the past. WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU ON ?

“Absolute cobblers, as always, from the RFA.

1. Freeholders, particularly RFA members, have blocked remediation for years.

2. Freeholder insolvency would have limited impact on remediation – it would likely speed up the whole process.

3. Statutory duties under the BSA 2022 are paid for by leaseholders via service charge.

4. Removing ground rent would have no impact on entering into Grant Funding Agreements.

5. The threats of insolvency are overblown – freeholder groups in the RFA are well capitalised and will do all they can not to give up their assets.
